In the Shop

It seems I spend half my life out here in my woodworking shop running my little one-man enterprise. With seven decades complete, however, I tend to take more frequent, longer duration breaks so thought I should have something to do while resting from doing very little - - Voila! this blog is born.

So, welcome to my shop and to some of the musings that move me through my days.

  • Box for Jessica

Today was primarily spent on cutting out the pattern on the lid of the box I’m building for Jessica. Overall the pattern was only moderately complex, but the flowers are turning out to be a bit tedious. Hopefully, they - the flowers - will be finished tomorrow morning.

Also tomorrow will be work on the fox plaque (intarsia) for Phyllis. This one is simpler but getting the fox’s expression right may require a couple of tries.

The weekend was spent  on some production work required for the craft show circuit. More of this will be required this week to be ready for the Val Vista Lakes show on Saturday. Then I’ll have to do a lot more of the same as, after a 10-11 day break, I’ll do three shows in eight days: Mesa, Scottsdale and Chandler. You have to be ready for anything since you never know what is going to sell.
